Core literacy is a brand new requirement for education in the context of the new era and a further deepening of education reform. In this context, elementary school art teachers need to reflect on the traditional teaching concepts and methods, and innovate teaching methods while constantly updating their teaching concepts, so as to improve the quality of teaching. In primary art education, teachers should focus on cultivating students’ core literacy while constantly updating their educational concepts. This paper first analyzes the connotation and importance of core literacy, and describes the core literacy cultivation strategy of primary art, in order to be able to provide positive reference suggestions for relevant research in China.
