文章摘要
In general linguistics, the principle of unity of opposites is mainly embodied in the view of language signs. For example, in his Course in General Linguistics, Saussure strictly divided the concepts of language and speech, invariance and mutability, and synchronic and diachronic of language, making them seem to be in opposition. However, the concepts of language and speech, invariance and variability, synchrony and diachronic in Saussure’s view of language signs, although seemingly opposite, are essentially unified in Saussure’s view of language signs. This shows that the application of the principle of unity of opposites in linguistics is not limited to a specific field, but runs through all levels of linguistics. In the study of linguistics, the application of the principle of unity of opposites helps us to better understand the nature and characteristics of language, so as to deepen the understanding and research of language.
