In 2021, the Ministry of Education implemented the “Double Reduction policy”, which requires relieving students’ homework pressure and controlling completion time. Under this policy, English teachers’ homework design mind is directly related to the quality and effectiveness of English education. The study,aims at investigating the beliefs and practice of middle school English teachers' homework design under the background of “Double Reduction, so as to explore solutions to improve homework quality. The paper mainly focuses three problems: in the context of double subtraction, what are homework design beliefs and what is the practice of middle school English teachers? Under the policy, are the beliefs of the middle school English teachers in homework deign consistent with practice? If not, why not?
