With the deepening of educational reform, the role and ability requirements are also constantly being improved for mathematics teachers in colleges and universities. By reviewing and analyzing relevant literature, this paper explores the abilities that future mathematics teachers should possess in colleges and universities, and proposes corresponding training strategies. It is found that future mathematics teachers should have solid professional knowledge of mathematics, excellent teaching ability, good application ability in information technology, innovation ability and interdisciplinary ability. In order to train mathematics teachers with these abilities, this paper proposes some strategies, such as strengthening the construction of teachers, improving the teaching ability of teachers, strengthening the training of information technology for teachers, encouraging teachers to participate in scientific research and strengthening interdisciplinary communication. These measures are helpful to improve the teaching quality of mathematics teachers in colleges and universities and train the abilities of future mathematics teachers.
