Traditionally, English speech classes have focused on cultivating eloquent speakers and debaters. However, with the evolving demands of the times and guided by President Xi Jinping’s ‘fostering virtue through education philosophy’, there is a growing need for internationally-oriented foreign language talents who are dedicated to serving national strategic interests and embody a deep sense of patriotism. This paper conducts a background and feasibility analysis to discuss the importance and necessity of integrating ideological and political education into English speech courses. The aim of this study is to provide practical guidance for university educators, enabling them to achieve the dual teaching objectives of knowledge transmission and value-based guidance.
