Abstract: In the context of global educational exchange and cooperation,this article offers an in-depth comparison of the American high school AP curriculum and the traditional Chinese high school Gaokao curriculum system.It analyzes the similarities and differences in curriculum design,teaching methods,and evaluation standards,highlighting the distinctive features of the AP curriculum,which emphasizes academic rigor,practical teaching,and diverse assessment methods.Conversely,it also discusses the strengths of the traditional Chinese Gaokao curriculum,particularly in building foundational knowledge and exam-taking skills.The AP curriculum integrates depth and breadth,experimental teaching,and extracurricular activities while enhancing evaluation systems and bridging high school and university experiences.By leveraging the strengths of the AP curriculum and adapting them to China's context,this study advocates for reforms in the standard high school curriculum to improve the quality of education and foster students'overall development.
