Abstract: Urban rail transit systems are crucial infrastructure projects in the development of urbanization. To cultivate professionals with practical operational skills and innovative capabilities, virtual simulation training rooms have become an indispensable part of education and training in vocational colleges. This study introduces the design concepts and technical architecture of virtual simulation training rooms, focusing on how advanced virtual reality (VR) and simulation technologies can be utilized to replicate real urban rail transit operations environments. The training room not only provides core skill training such as simulated driving, fault diagnosis, and emergency handling but also covers equipment maintenance and system management. By implementing virtual simulation training programs, students can conduct practical operations in a safe and controlled environment, thereby enhancing their professional skills and overall competencies. Additionally, this paper proposes future development suggestions, including further integration of artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and other advanced technologies to improve the functionality and efficiency of the training rooms, supporting talent cultivation in urban rail transit mechatronics programs at higher vocational colleges.
