Germany's education system, once globally acclaimed for its excellence, is now grappling with a severe shortage of primary and secondary school teachers. This crisis stems from three fundamental contradictions: persistent regional and disciplinary imbalances in educational resource allocation, particularly acute in STEM (MINT) subjects; declining professional appeal of teaching due to broader societal changes; and systemic misalignment between government policies and educational structures that hinders effective solutions. Against this backdrop, Germany has implemented a comprehensive set of countermeasures, including diversifying teacher recruitment channels, enhancing career incentives, optimizing educational frameworks and training mechanisms, and accelerating digital transformation within the teaching profession. This paper conducts a thorough examination of these multidimensional challenges while systematically evaluating Germany's institutional responses to its teacher shortage crisis.
