Exploring a Reading-to-Writing Teaching Model for Senior High School English based on the Deeper Learning Cycle and the Activity-based Approach to English Learning

Reading-to-Writing Instruction is an effective teaching model that integrates language input with output to enhance students' writing skills. However, current teaching practices face such challenges as students' superficial comprehension of texts, over-reliance on writing templates, and formulaic writing patterns. Deeper Learning theory and activity-based approach to English learning offers a novel approach to address these issues. Therefore, this paper will integrate the Deeper Learning theory with the activity-based approach to English learning so as to explore a cohesive reading-to-writing teaching model grounded in their synergistic application.
