From the perspective of Marxist theory of literature and art, this paper deeply discusses the basic principles of contemporary literary and artistic works. First, the core concepts and main themes of Marxist literary and art theory are sorted out, and the relationship between artistic production and material production, the close connection between art and social life, and the interaction between art and ideology are comprehensively expounded. On this basis, the paper further analyzes the challenges faced in the process of creation, dissemination and acceptance of contemporary literary works. Guided by the Marxist theory of literature and art, the contemporary literary and art works should, on the basis of adhering to the basic principles, actively respond to the challenges and give full play to their important role in the construction of socialist culture. Only in this way can literary and artistic works shine more brightly in the new era.
