In the era of smart media, the increasingly complete mobile communication system makes the Internet platform become the hub of information dissemination, and the media enter the stage of platform competition. In order to cope with the challenges, new mainstream media take platformization as an important initiative of media digital transformation, and do a good job of platform adaptation and content cultivation on the basis of a full understanding of the new media platform system and platform functions. This paper adopts the social system research method to deeply analyze the realistic dilemma of new mainstream media's platform transformation in the era of smart media from the four major principles of social system research method, i.e., holistic, structural, hierarchical, and openness, and then provide feasible optimization paths for the platform transformation of new mainstream media from the perspectives of technology, mechanism, funding, and content.
