Abstract: This paper mainly discusses the importance of exaggeration in artistic creation, especially its use in dance creation. Exaggeration is a technique that transcends the scope of facts and aims to highlight the characteristics of things or achieve a particular artistic effect. By analyzing the definition, performance, and movement performance of exaggeration in dance, the article emphasizes the important role of exaggeration in artistic performance. Exaggeration can not only enhance the appeal of the art work, but also trigger the resonance and reflection of the audience. Taking some dance works as examples, the article shows how exaggeration affects the audience’s perception and understanding of dance works in the dance choreography.
