文章摘要
Column McCann’s Let the Great World Spin is hailed as “the first great 9-11 novel”. It unveils the social turmoil and human insecurity in the 1970s’ New York and depicts how people seek redemption and reconciliation through communication and empathy. As an Irish-American writer embracing cosmopolitanism, McCann conveys his vision of building a community of shared future for mankind, which is fluid, open and communicative. His postmodern community writing makes a meaningful attempt to address the issues of individual identity and belonging in postmodern society.
