文章摘要
Modernity exists not only as an epochal consciousness but also as a source of numerous problems. While it drives the transformation of social, economic, political, and cultural dimensions, it also alters the spiritual temperament and mindset of modern individuals, giving rise to various contemporary issues. Weber pointed out that the "rationalization" of modernity essentially leans towards "formal rationality." The dominance of "formal rationality" across different aspects of society results in human alienation. In response to the various dilemmas of modernity, Buddhist thought of original enlightenment, based on its own "rationality," proposes a series of therapeutic measures. Its core idea lies in revealing the limitations and illusory nature of the Western "modern self," indicating that Western modern rationality itself must also be "disenchanted" to achieve true selfhood, freedom, and to manifest a meaningful world.
