文章摘要
It is a well-known fact that Santiago, the main character in The Old Man and the Sea, is considered to be Hemingway’s Code Hero. However, most of this conclusion comes from Hemingway's writing style, but there is not enough research on how the text comes to identity construction. The other important theme of The Old Man and the Sea is to emphasize the relationship between man and nature, human’s identity is deeply rooted in nature. Therefore, this paper links Santiago's identity construction with Hemingway's natural thoughts, focuses more on text, and proves that Santiago is a code hero from a more dynamic and comprehensive perspective.
