Chengliang Jia

This paper takes the Shanghai Biennale as a case study to explore the integration of modernity and local culture in contemporary art under the background of globalization. By analyzing the historical development, exhibition theme, composition of artists and works of art of Shanghai Biennale, this paper holds that contemporary art in the context of globalization not only absorbs elements of world culture, but also actively integrates local cultural characteristics, realizing the integration of modernity and local culture. This is of great significance to the development of Chinese contemporary art.
