文章摘要
This paper conducts a case study on cultural appropriation. It begins by defining cultural appropriation as the act of one culture taking elements from another, often involving power asymmetry between dominant and marginalized cultures.Cultural appropriation encompasses various forms across multiple fields.Through two cases-Dior's skirt similar to the Chinese horse-face skirt and Gucci's use of the Sikh turban-the paper analyzes the negative impacts such as commodification, dilution of cultural meaning, and devaluation of the original culture. It also discusses the significance of cultural appropriation, which has both positive and negative aspects. While it can promote cultural innovation and communication,it often leads to more harm regarding the misrepresentation of the original culture, highlighting the need to respect cultural diversity.
