In the early 20th century, with the emergency of the New Culture Movement and the "Western Culture's Spreading in China", a  new style of art, known as modern Chinese art songs, emerged in the field of music in China. It achieved a high level of unity between lyrics and music, exceptional artistic value, and rich musical cultural connotations. These connotations have transcended the art songs themselves, reflected the spirit of the times, highlighted need for spiritual culture in social progress, and enriched Chinese music culture. The cultural connotations expressed by art songs are not only a testament to the composer's individuality but also a shared aspiration among composers of the same social background and era in creating art songs.
