This study takes Suzhou Ancient City as the research object, aiming to explore how to balance cultural heritage protection and economic development in the modern urbanization process. As an important historical and cultural city in China, Suzhou Ancient City faces multiple challenges from economic development, population growth, infrastructure demand, and tourism. Several strategies for achieving a balance between heritage protection and urban development are proposed. This study has important implications for the protection and development of other historical and cultural cities.
