With the development of metaverse technology, this emerging field has opened up unprecedented possibilities for the digital preservation and intergenerational transmission of cultural heritage. This study explores how metaverse technology facilitates the digital transformation and value redefinition of the Chinese Grand Canal culture, and reveals its innovative applications and far-reaching impacts in the protection and dissemination of cultural heritage, providing a solid theoretical foundation and practical guidance for the living inheritance and sustainable development of the Chinese Grand Canal culture.
