可持续性是如此重要,以至于作为联合国发展倡议的千年发展目标和可持续发展目标都将其列为重要组成部分。不可持续的做法导致环境的枯竭和破坏,其后果仍在人们的理解中。如果建筑行业的专业人士不参与可持续发展计划,情况甚至可能变得最糟。建筑师作为建筑环境中的专业人士,在建筑的设计和施工方面做出最重要的决定。他们对可持续建筑材料的认识和知识对于解决这一新出现的问题非常重要。本研究旨在评估建筑师对可持续建筑材料的认识水平。这是通过考察可持续建筑材料的知识、规格和应用来衡量的。因此,该研究是定性的;数据是通过六项结构化的访谈时间表获得的。有目的地选择了18名注册建筑师进行研究。研究结果表明,自从国际社会对可持续性的关注接近20年以来,建筑师对可持续建筑材料的认识和知识水平仍然很低。这项研究还表明,就规范编写而言,建筑师有时不喜欢将界限挤出他们的舒适区。总之,该研究建议更新该州的建筑细则,旨在使建筑师更新他们对可持续建筑材料的知识,因为他们的设计更经常地应用这些材料。
